A beautiful and heartfelt evening…
October 22nd, 2020 marked the official launch of A Story of Karma. Moments into the event I was already overwhelmed with emotion by the abundance of heart and love that filled the Great Hall of the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. Shaelynn Williams (from the Squamish Nation), who is also Pemba’s best friend in Canada, delivered a beautiful welcome, and on the back of that, Dungse Lama Pema, head of the Thrangu Monastery offered a heartfelt blessing.
Fortunately I got through the readings without totally breaking down into tears. Michael Averill performed his Nepali Song, which brought me right back to the Annapurna trail, and Sam Thiara and I shared our usual good natured banter and dialogue about the story.
It’s an event I will remember for a very long time. In case you missed it, the whole event will be screened at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) Nov 20-29.
Thank you everyone who participated in the event - I can’t think of a better way to have set A Story of Karma into the world. For those who missed the event, you can listen to the full recording on RMB’s podcast Think Outside!
The event was in partnership with the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, RMB Rocky Mountain Books, VIMFF, the Nepal Cultural Society of British Columbia, and the Shree Mangal Dvip School for Himalayan Children (SMD).
